The theory of zodiac sign representation.
Symbols of zodiac
Well some scholars believe that the ceiling of this painting is the magic square(6 by 6) for the sun(I believe you are already aware of the magic square). On both sides of Jesus are six apostles or houses of the zodiac.
When I am working on this theory I found a nice set of observations.
First Person (with hump thing on back): I think this is Ram(also known as Aries) because many pictures of ram though the one I provided here haven't.) have a hump on their backs before their necks.
Second Person (blond hair, red robe): I think hands of this person represent a pair of bull’s horns, so it is Taurus.
Third Person (Bald): He is holding up both hands with ten fingers, this as he thinks got to be Gemini. The twins, two hands, which said to be twin, so the ten fingers.
Fourth Person (Blue robe, talking to John): He has a knife in his hands, and knives do what - stab, poke, puncture like crab pincers. So Cancer.
Fifth Person (green and blue robe): Obvious, has the nose of lion, therefore is Leo.
Sixth Person (a feminine appearance, “V” shape between the figure and Jesus): As I mentioned I think the figure is of a virgin. So Virgo.
NOTE : notice the wide “V” shaped space between them.
Seventh Person (Jesus): I think that Jesus represents could be Libra because he was honest and sincere throughout his life as a scale
Eighth Person (only a head and pointing up with finger): Think of Sagittarius, a figure with human head and rest of a horse. I came to conclusion because his finger reminds me of a arrow head and only his head appears in the painting.
Ninth Person (green robe, arms outstretched): This is who I believe to be Ophiuchus (the Serpent Bearer also described as a healer) because he is between Sagittarius and Scorpio, which is also common in zodiac. He also looks like the most sinister guy at the table.
Tenth Person (red robe): This I believe to be Scorpio because on his left arm he has a scorpion or what looks like a scorpion.
Eleventh Person (blue robe): Nothing yo certify my opinion that the figure represents Capricorn. Just assigned it because it was the only remaining sign.
Twelfth Person (old guy with beard): I figured he was Pisces, because it is usually represented by two fish, if you look at his hands they seem like the shapes of fish swimming at an angle, as Pisces is depicted.
Thirteenth Person (Bald, white robe): So i thought this guy to be Aquarius because the way his cup is placed in front of his plate looks like the plate is full of water, hence water bearer.
Credit for some of the observations goes to another person who call himself as tankthinker. And if you note any observation which support his theory I welcome your comments.
